Scriptwriting

Thursday evenings

2 March to 6 April 2017, 7.30pm to 9.30pm in the Community Bookshop, Copse Road, Clevedon.

Have you ever watched a play and thought 'I could write something like that'? That’s what I did and now my plays are performed by am/dram groups all over the country.   So, if you fancy trying your hand at scriptwriting, or if you are trying to improve ways in which you build your characters and write dialogue in short stories and longer works of fiction, come along to this six-week scriptwriting course. You will develop your writing skills in creating believable characters, presenting situations to put them in and words for them to speak. Beginners welcome. Class numbers are limited. Please bring notebooks and pens.

Tutor: Membership of an am/dram group gave Ann Gawthorpe the opportunity of writing plays and seeing them performed. She pursued her writing as a journalist, first as a freelance writer for magazines followed by a stint as a newspaper reporter. She co-authored 'Write a Play and get it Performed' published by Hodder as part of the Teach Yourself series and ‘Teach Yourself Writing for Magazines’. Ann is author of 'Write your Life Story and get it Published' and, last year, her first novel was published, ‘Face to Face’, a murder mystery set in Aix en Provence.

Course fee: £60, £40 for those in receipt of benefit.

Closing date for applications Saturday 25 February 2017.
