The Bookshop

We receive and sell a large selection of good donated second-hand books at our bookshop on Copse Road. We also stock a small number of new books. Our friendly volunteers are always happy to help you with your book search. Just ask!

Closure of the shop

We have taken the difficult decision to close the Bookshop. This follows the current Government advice on social distancing and is to safeguard the health of our volunteers and customers.

Unfortunately we will also not be able to accept any donations during this time.

The shop has been closed because of the Covid virus but we are reopening on Tuesday 30th June for slightly shorter hours of 11.00am to 3.00pm. We will be hopefully then be open every Friday & Sunday and Tuesday.

Our normal opening hours are 7 days a week (Monday - Sunday) which we hope to return to soon:

10am - 5pm (Summer)

10am - 4pm (Winter)

There is a whole corner of the bookshop dedicated to children’s books – complete with comfy bean bags to sit on! We have something for every age, from toddlers’ picture books like The Hungry Caterpillar, right through to Young Adult fiction like The Hunger Games. But don’t worry! Not all books are about being hungry … We also stock children’s classics, from Enid Blyton to Treasure Island, non-fiction, and even some graphic novels. So come take a look!

Or if you want to research something for homework the old fashioned way (looking it up in a book) we're just the place for you.

We have a range of other items for sale including cards, gift vouchers and cloth bags.
